Delta Arts is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to help with school programs for the spring 2024 semester. Candidate needs to be an individual who has experience in teaching or working with children of different ages. Candidate must be willing and able to assist teachers as well as fill in to teach lessons to students in pre-K through 6th grades. Must be reliable and willing to learn our programs. Lessons are already established so lesson planning is not needed. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: · Assist lead teachers in two different schools. · Deliver lesson plans and prepare instructional materials associated with each specific program as needed. · Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. · Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. · Communicate issues to the Director of School Programs first then to the Executive Director. · Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. · Physical Requirements include sitting, standing, walking, reading, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. · Attend weekly staff meetings once a week. An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: · At least 2 years of experience in teaching. · A self-motivated worker who is goal-oriented and organized. · Excellent writing and public speaking skills. · Highly motivated to help children learn. This is a part-time contract position for 5 months – December through April. There is the possibility that this can become a permanent position based on interest and performance.
