Alyssa Follas is a pillar in the betterment of the youth within our community. She is Court Appointed Special Advocate dedicated to the CASA organization. As Charity Speed explains, "Not only is she a top tier teacher for the West Memphis School District, but she is also an amazing and committed volunteer to CASA of the Arkansas Delta – a [nonprofit] organization that advocates for the abused and neglected children currently in the foster care system."

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Follas moved to Arkansas in 2015. She started her CASA journey when she started training with her former supervisor, who taught her about children and the foster care system. While training with her former supervisor, she gained a special place in her heart for children in the foster care system who had to be in situations no child should be in. She then took a leap of faith and started training to join CASA. With this training, she has become a person that children can come to for empathy and comfort in times of difficulty. "Working with CASA and the children that are in Crittenden County [has] been rewarding within itself. I have assisted with transitions from foster homes back to families and worked alongside many organizations to make the children of our community have the brightest futures possible," explains Follas.

Alyssa Follas, and many like her, are indeed the hidden gems of this community that deserve much more recognition for the hard work they put into protecting and bettering the future of this community. Thank you, Alyssa, for everything you have done to help comfort those who need it the most and help them transition from foster care back to their families.

"Take the time to help in the community you live in. Invest yourself in the children of Crittenden County. They need an adults who cares and want to show them LOVE."
